When the one you've always wanted . . .At sixteen, Annabelle Morgan hoped her crush on Jake Wilder was just a passing phase. Now she's twenty-nine and nothing has changed—except Jake. The once-carefree Marine has come home with a giant chip on his shoulder. He insists a single mom like Annie deserves more than he can offer. Yet no matter how gruff his gorgeous exterior may be, Jake's toe-curling kisses convince her that this attraction is definitely mutual.Becomes the one who wants you back . . .Butting heads with feisty Annie was always a thrill. Add other body parts to the mix, and Jake is in serious trouble. He can't be a forever-and-family guy—and Annie's not a friends-with-benefits kind of woman. But love has a way of changing the best-laid plans, and surrender has never been so tempting . . .The outcome is truly sweet.

I think this is absolutely my favorite story of the bunch. In the 5th book in the series, and the final one if I’m not mistaken, we’re finally introduced to the youngest Wilder in the bunch. Jake is back from the war with an honorable discharge and a some horrible survivors guilt weighing him down. Upon his return, he’s faced with the fact that he isn’t quite sure what he wants to do with his life.

Annie has had a crush on Jake for ages… but he was unattainable in high school and now that he’s back, as much as she wants him, she has a baby that takes precedence to any and everything … even Jake Wilder.

Jake isn’t going to take no for an answer though … not with the scorching chemistry that they have. He just has to figure out how to let go of the past and his guilt and Annie just might be the perfect person to show him.

As I said, I really enjoyed Jake and Annie’s story here. The drama wasn’t over the top and I completely appreciate being able to sit down and read a book without the author wanting to rip my heart out and eat it for breakfast. If you love low-angst contemporary romance then you should be reading this series.

Jake is actually everything I was hoping he would be. Like his brothers he’s dedicated to his family and friends, but he’s struggling and it was hard to see him flounder back at home because of the overwhelming guilt he was feeling, but it was completely understandable. And Annie… I loved how fierce and determined she was. I think a big part of loving this story so much was because I understand her situation. Truly being the one and only person that small human has to count on and knowing you’ll do whatever you need to make their life amazing … I get that. I know her situation, so that made her story all that much more personal. Maybe one day I’ll find my ‘Jake Wilder’ too.

Fans of Kristin Higgins and Jill Shalvis definitely need to have these on their radar since it’s got that similar small town setting, characters you can’t help but connect with and cheer for, and of course some super hot men!
Thank you to the publisher for an advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

About Candis Terry

Growing up in Southern California, I was too busy reading books, hanging out at the beach, or finding ways to have a good time that wouldn’t land me on restriction to even consider writing a book. Oddly enough, a college drama teacher (who politely discouraged my inept acting abilities) encouraged me to develop the A+ character bio I’d created into a complete story. Right. Years later, in the midst of a bleary-eyed all-nighter (rocking my newborn, that is), I picked up a romance novel and fell in love with more than just the infant in my arms.

Only one thing has remained constant: my passion for writing stories about relationships, the push and pull in the search for love, and the security one finds in their own happily ever after. Though my stories are set in small towns, my wish is to give each of my characters a great big memorable love story rich with quirky characters, tons of fun, and a happy ending.

I’m married to a wonderful man who takes out the trash without being asked and who puts up with all my crazy ideas. To find inspiration, my family and I often grab our trailer and ATV and venture out to discover the off-road splendor of the Idaho wilderness. And when I need a fun dose of reality, I call upon my daughter and her little Mini-Me or one of our 3 furry troublemakers.

Life is good down on the farm!
