four-stars
Declan Kincade has spent so much time chasing success he’s almost forgotten how to just live. Lately though, his all-business routine has been thrown into disarray. Brooke Hastings is the best employee Dec’s ever had: polished, capable, and intelligent. After four years, he’s just realized that she’s also smoking hot. But their working relationship is too valuable to stake on a fling, no matter how mind-bendingly pleasurable it promises to be.

What’s worse than never meeting the right man? Finding him, and then working side-by-side every day while he remains absolutely blind to your existence. That is, until one temptation-packed road-trip changes everything. Teaching her gorgeous, driven boss how to cut loose and have fun is the toughest challenge Brooke’s ever faced. But it’s one that could give both of them exactly what they need, if Dec will take a chance on a perfect—and perfectly unexpected—love.

I have to tell you guys that sometimes I just need a light and fluffy romance to dive into and lose myself in.  There are just a couple of authors that I can know that no matter what I pick up by them, they will fall into that category, and Candis Terry is among my favorites.  I really enjoyed book 1 in her Sunshine Creek Vineyard series and was looking forward to book 2 and I wasn’t disappointed!

Declan Kincade is what some might call a workaholic.  Growing up he never had it easy… struggling to figure out why he didn’t get things as quickly as his brothers, but once he was diagnosed with dyslexia he pushed himself to succeed and succeed he did.  Running his own Wealth Management company has made him a lot of money and a portfolio of clients but he doesn’t do it alone.  His executive assistant Brooke helps keep everything running smoothly and she’s irreplaceable.  Which means for the four years she’s worked for him, he’s basically had to ignore any feelings that might have grown between them.  He won’t mess up their amazing work relationship with a fling no matter how much he might want her.

When Brooke and Dec find themselves in close quarters to work from Dec’s family vineyard after his parent’s unexpected deaths, Brooke is bound and determined to show Dec that there is more to life than having a successful career.

I really enjoyed seeing Brooke get Dec to let loose, and I liked the way her background was revealed and the why of who she is today.

If I had to admit that something bothered me, it would be that Dec kind of used Brooke a bit.  I get his reticence to start something with her, but then stick to your guns, don’t randomly kiss her like it means something and then pull the employee/employer card the next day.  No way.  I loved at the end that Brooke stuck to her plans and what she wanted for herself instead of making plans around what Declan was hoping to do.

Overall a lovely addition to the series and I’m excited to see which brother we get to learn more about next!

Thank you to the publisher for an early copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

About Candis Terry

Growing up in Southern California, I was too busy reading books, hanging out at the beach, or finding ways to have a good time that wouldn’t land me on restriction to even consider writing a book. Oddly enough, a college drama teacher (who politely discouraged my inept acting abilities) encouraged me to develop the A+ character bio I’d created into a complete story. Right. Years later, in the midst of a bleary-eyed all-nighter (rocking my newborn, that is), I picked up a romance novel and fell in love with more than just the infant in my arms.

Only one thing has remained constant: my passion for writing stories about relationships, the push and pull in the search for love, and the security one finds in their own happily ever after. Though my stories are set in small towns, my wish is to give each of my characters a great big memorable love story rich with quirky characters, tons of fun, and a happy ending.

I’m married to a wonderful man who takes out the trash without being asked and who puts up with all my crazy ideas. To find inspiration, my family and I often grab our trailer and ATV and venture out to discover the off-road splendor of the Idaho wilderness. And when I need a fun dose of reality, I call upon my daughter and her little Mini-Me or one of our 3 furry troublemakers.

Life is good down on the farm!
