Top Ten Tuesday: Auto-Buy Authors

July 16, 2019 by Erin Leave a Comment

Top Ten Tuesday was originally created/hosted by the team that was The Broke & The Bookish but is now hosted by Jana at ThatArtsyReaderGirl!

Kasie West writes some of our favorite YA contemporary books and if you haven’t read any yet, you are missing out!  The Distance Between Us, Love, Life and the List, and The Fill-in Boyfriend are only a few that are on our favorites list…go check them out!Maggie Stiefvater is an amazing writer and I can’t even put into words how much I love her Raven Cycle books.  Add in her Books of Faerie and The Wolves of Mercy Falls books and it all adds up to us waiting anxiously for anything she writes next!

Mary E. Pearson writes stories that make me want to read them over and over again.  They have a fantastic mix of characters, great stories, and of course…swoony boys.  Don’t judge me, I like my books with a bit of romance and Mary Pearson gets it right every time!  The Remnant Chronicles and Dance of Thieves series should be at the top of everyone’s list.

Leigh Bardugo is magic and the fact that we have a whole bookshelf dedicated to her books and other related items should tell you how much we love her.  I have pushed The Shadow and Bone Trilogy and Six of Crows duology on so many people (who of course thanked me…) and I’m not even sorry.

Sarah MacLean is one of my favorite historical romance writers because she just gets it.  Her characters are sexy, daring, determined, and sometimes a bit dangerous and the stories are always unputdownable.  Her Love by Numbers series and The Rules of Scoudrels series are some of my favorites and have pushed me to preorder her upcoming Bareknuckle Bastards book and you should too!

Marie Lu has been a favorite author since we got our hands on Legend and fell in love with Day and June – I can’t wait to get my hands on Rebel! When she wrote The Young Elites and made me recognize that villains have a story too, I knew she would be on my auto-buy list forever.

Kristen Simmons gets me.  No seriously, she writes books that have great characters, interesting and compelling stories, and swoony boys / romance.  All of these things are what makes me love a book and every time I pick up a book by her, I know I am going to love it.  The Article 5 series, The Glass Arrow, Metaltown, and The Deceivers all count as some of my favorites and each one has contributed to the reason why Simmons is on my auto-buy list.

VE Schwab writes amazingly complex stories with captivating characters.  I held out for the longest time from jumping on the Schwab train, but honestly once I read my first one, there was no going back!  You can’t go wrong with a single book she has written -grab them all!

Emery Lord writes some of the best, most heartfelt contemporary around.  From my first (Open Road Summer) book by her I knew I was going to be a lifelong fan and I have pre-ordered every single book since!

Emma Mills is amazing you guys – her stories always capture so accurately friendships and relationships and every time she releases a new book, it immediately becomes my new favorite!! I adore her stories, her characters and I can’t get enough!

There you go – those are our auto-buy authors! Who are some of yours?  Please let us know in the comments!
