Flashback Friday: February 14, 2014

February 14, 2014 by Jaime Leave a Comment

What is Flashback Friday you ask?

I know… I know… As if you don’t have a million and one memes to follow! BUT we’re hoping that you might want to participate in just one more!

If you’re like us, you read a lot… you add a ton to your ‘to be read’ lists and you sometimes forget about some amazing things because they get pushed down either your favorites list or that pile of books you need to read.  That doesn’t mean those books are no less amazing!

This is a way for us to highlight books that are older that maybe don’t get as much recognition now because they have been out for a while.  Books that we read and loved or books that have been on our To Be Read lists for ages, but we just haven’t gotten around to them yet.

On to the details – Pick a book… any book that meets the following criteria:

1.  Must have been published at least 2 years ago or
2.  Preferably is still in print or available to read

Grab our button or make your own then simply feature it on your blog… See the example below, and then come back here and link us up!! AND Spread the word!!

IF I STAY / WHERE SHE WENT
By: Gayle Forman
Publication Date: April 6, 2010/April 15, 2011

If you haven’t read this series, I can’t tell you how much you should. I still remember buying If I Stay at Target while skimming through titles… it wasn’t even this cover, it was the blue one.  I devoured the book. It has two very memorable characters and such an incredible story.  I’m very much looking  forward to seeing what they do with the movie!

SUMMARY: IF I STAY
On a day that started like any other,

Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, admiring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left. It is the most important decision she’ll ever make.

Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.

I’m not including the summary for Where She Went because I don’t want to spoil for anyone who may have not read this yet… are there even people out there that haven’t read this yet? LOL

DARKFEVER (FEVER #1)
By: Karen Marie Moning
Publication Date: October 31, 2006

I keep telling myself I need to re-read this series and I feel like it will happen soon.  This is Adult Paranormal and includes Fae, magic and Jericho Barrons…that is all.

Darkfever (Fever, #1)

Summary
MacKayla Lane’s life is good. She has great friends, a decent job, and a car that breaks down only every other week or so. In other words, she’s your perfectly ordinary twenty-first-century woman. Or so she thinks…until something extraordinary happens.

When her sister is murdered, leaving a single clue to her death–a cryptic message on Mac’s cell phone–Mac journeys to Ireland in search of answers. The quest to find her sister’s killer draws her into a shadowy realm where nothing is as it seems, where good and evil wear the same treacherously seductive mask. She is soon faced with an even greater challenge: staying alive long enough to learn how to handle a power she had no idea she possessed–a gift that allows her to see beyond the world of man, into the dangerous realm of the Fae….

As Mac delves deeper into the mystery of her sister’s death, her every move is shadowed by the dark, mysterious Jericho, a man with no past and only mockery for a future. As she begins to close in on the truth, the ruthless Vlane–an alpha Fae who makes sex an addiction for human women–closes in on her. And as the boundary between worlds begins to crumble, Mac’s true mission becomes clear: find the elusive Sinsar Dubh before someone else claims the all-powerful Dark Book–because whoever gets to it first holds nothing less than complete control of the very fabric of both worlds in their hands….

ROCKY MOUNTAIN HEAT (Six Pack Ranch #1)
By: Vivian Arend
Publication Date: November 15th 2011

I don’t like cowboys.  They’re not my favorite.  Not at all.  In fact, I generally avoid reading books about cowboys because in my heart I’m a city girl.  I don’t like horses and barns, and if I’m spending any real time outside, there better be a cocktail in my hand and a beach in my view.

Well, Vivian Arend has changed all that.  After reading her novella in the Marked anthology, I fell in love with one of her cowboys.  And to my surprise and delight, I found out that it was a part of her Six Pack Ranch series.  Well, I started book one, and Vivian made me fall in love with her cowboy, Blake.  It’s a hot, sweet read.  I like that her books seem to be relationship based.  Not just between the hero and heroine, but also between family.  It was a great read, and I enjoyed every single minute.  You should definitely check it out.

SUMMARY
Blake Coleman is old enough to know that acting on impulse causes nothing but a heap of trouble. But when trouble’s a western-hat-wearing blonde with slim legs that go on forever, what’s a man to do? Wanting the sweet girl next door is just wrong. The responsible thing to do is keep his hands off.

Jaxi has other plans for Blake’s hands, and his heart. She may have once considered him a big brother, but that was a long time ago. She’s all grown up now and ready to convince him that she’s perfect for him. Except he can’t seem to see past the big “don’t touch” sign that’s apparently still hanging around her neck.

When Jaxi ends up living right under Blake’s nose, the undeniable heat between them slides off simmer and leaps up to barn-burning levels. However, a few of the younger six-pack Colemans have decided Jaxi’s brand of trouble is worth risking a few busted bones.
That is, if Blake’s finally ready to let go the reins and fight for what he wants…

ABOUT VIVIAN
Vivian Arend in one word: Adventurous. In a sentence: Willing to try just about anything once. That wide-eyed attitude has taken her around North America, through parts of Europe, and into Central and South America, often with no running water.

Her optimistic outlook also meant that when challenged to write a book, she gave it a shot, and discovered creating worlds to play in was nearly as addictive as traveling the real one. Now a New York Times and USA bestselling author of over 30 novels and short stories in both contemporary and paranormal genres, Vivian continues to explore, write and otherwise keep herself well-entertained.Jessica Rowley Pell Bird was born on 1969 in Massachusetts, USA. She is the daughter of Maxine F. and W. Gillette Bird, Jr. She began writing as a child, penning her thoughts in diaries as well as inventing short stories. She read her first Harlequin Presents novel in a rose garden when she was in her teens. She was hooked immediately. By the time she went to college, she had boxes and boxes of Harlequins and Silhouettes. Every year, her mother would ask why all those books had to live in the house and Jess would reply that if even one of them disappeared she would know. (She’d catalogued them.)

Jess finished her first romance manuscript the summer before her freshman year of college. She attended Smith College and graduated with a double ma…more
