BEA Wrap Up & Our First PODCAST With Kassiah & Meg!!

June 23, 2013 by Jaime Leave a Comment

I know I know… BEA was a couple weeks ago now, but to be honest, we’ve been swamped with real life stuff (end of the school year, work trips ahhhhh) that we haven’t really had time to do our full wrap-up post yet… but no worries here it is!!  AND I finally have all the books in my possession.  We ended up shipping our boxes home Media Mail, and to say I was worried would be an understatement based on some of the pictures I was seeing of the condition boxes were showing up in!  One of Erin’s boxes even was open and untaped!!   Anyway – Almost everything has finally arrived and in mostly pristine condition save a few… So here we go.

Jaime’s Thoughts

How many times have you been to BEA

This was my first time!

What were the top 3 books you wanted to get

1. Crown of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas
2. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
3.  Altered by Gennifer Albin
3a. Antigoddess by Kendare Blake

Who were the top 3 authors you wanted to meet

1. Tracey Garvis-Graves
2. Katie Sise
3. Robyn Schneider
Longest line you waited in

I’m not entirely sure, we kind of planned that we would be near the front of  them all, maybe Fangirl?

What was your favorite part of BEA

Hanging with my lovely friends and getting to chat with authors

What was your least favorite part of BEA

lines lines lines…

What were you most surprised about at BEA

how lovely most everyone is… i mean you’re in a crowded place with grabby people who want all the things, yet everyone was (for the most part) incredibly kind!

If you could do something different what would you have done?

We should have brought A LOT more packing tape!!

 Any tips for future attendees?

Give yourself some downtime to relax and get to the booths to meet the publishing people and also to see the City. We were so wiped by Friday when we had planned to do stuff that we skipped it and relaxed at the hotel instead!

Erin’s Thoughts

2. Tracey Garvis Graves
3. Robyn Schneider

Longest line you waited in

What was your favorite part of BEA

Meeting all the other bloggers we interact with online – it was great to finally see their faces!  Also – the authors were so accessible and we were able to talk to so many at the parties we attended.

What was your least favorite part of BEA

At times the overall pushiness of some of the people was crazy.

What were you most surprised about at BEA

How many books we left with

If you could do something different what would you have done?

Have more downtime – we spent a lot of time rushing around to make sure we got to everything we wanted to but next year I want to spend some time exploring and hanging out with friends.  OH and get better at hailing cabs.

Any tips for future attendees?

Plan, plan, plan.  We had schedules and itineraries which kept me on track with where I needed to be.  The great thing is it was all outlined for me but if I changed my mind about something, I knew what my other options were.
