Spotlight Sunday: Why We Blog!

May 4, 2014 by Jaime Leave a Comment

Spotlight Sunday on Swoony Boys Podcast and Fiction Fare

By now you know that when the four of us are together, in person or via the magic of the internet, the conversations almost always come back to books. We love them. We love the people who write them, the people who publish them, and the people who read them. In fact, we have so many feelings about books that we wanted to find a way to share our conversations with you! Welcome to a new week of Spotlight Sunday, hosted by Fiction Fare (Erin & Jaime) and Swoony Boys Podcast (Kassiah & Meg), where we dish about ALL things bookish. Each week we’ll post a topic, we’ll start the conversation by telling you some of our thoughts, and then it will be your turn to sound off in the comment section.

Have a topic you’d like to discuss on Spotlight Sunday? Fill out the form here.

Why are we book bloggers?

Meg: Oh, my goodness. I think most bloggers start for the same reason, a love for their topic. I am so in love with books. Everything about the book world amazes me. I love talking about books, I love talking to book loving people… I love it all. Books brought me all three of you and for that I am forever grateful.

Kassiah: Ditto, that. This is a great question, and one that I often have to answer. Some people can’t understand the travel, time, and total immersion into this world that we have. I think for me, it’s all about connections. Connecting readers to stories and characters that they love as well as personally connecting with others who share the same love as I do for those stories and worlds and people.

Erin: I agree – I kind of fell into this world of blogging but I love it. I am somewhat self-conscious about the reviews I write…mostly because who am I to judge? But really – I do it because I love to talk about books and everything involved with them. ALSO, I get to hang out and talk about things I love with people I love (all of you) and that makes it soooo much better.

Jaime: I’m not sure I have anything to add to this, but I’ll try! I think ultimately all the reasons you guys state are the reasons why I got into blogging. I haven’t always been a reader… there was a time when the only books I picked up were school books and I used the “I just don’t have time to read” excuse. That obviously has changed. A lot. And logically it would be easy to read and not burden myself with a review, but I am the kind of person who if I love something I need to tell everyone about it. Which works well in the blogging universe! I love falling for an author’s writing and their characters and the stories they tell and when that all clicks and I want to tell the world how amazing that story it, the blog allows me the perfect place to share that. I’m so grateful for the opportunities it has provided me with… traveling and meeting amazing and talented people, and making some incredible friends along the way!

Now that you’ve read some of our thoughts, let us know what you’re thinking in the comments below! We’ll be back next week with a brand new topic and lots more to talk about.
