Reasons Why You Should Read The Raven Cycle Series by Maggie Stiefvater

September 10, 2014 by Jaime Leave a Comment

So if you know anything about us here at Fiction Fare, you know of our love for The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater.  You also probably know that we are SUPER excited to get our hands on a copy of Blue Lily, Lily Blue when it comes out…if not sooner.

But we also wanted to share some of the reasons we love this series so much.  There are a million more than we’ve listed here, but this is a good start!

1. GANSEY – We absolutely adore him. Just trust us…you will love him too! Below is Maggie’s drawing and I have to admit I think it is perfect!
Photo: I confess I only drew this because carinaolsen on Twitter kept saying DRAW GANSEY DRAW GANSEY WHERE IS GANSEY'S FACE DRAW IT DRAW GANSEY And my Sharpie and pencils were right THERE.
2. The banter and dialogue between all of these characters is the best – they’re smart and witty and it adds so much to the rest of the story.

”You’re being creepy,” Blue said. “Maybe you mean to be, But in case you’re just being accidentally creepy, I thought I’d let you know.”

3. The Story – There’s magic, ley lines, a magical forest, and lots of history…and that’s only part of the story.

4. The friendship between Gansey, Ronan, Noah, and Adam is wonderful and when Blue is thrown into the mix it creates another dynamic..in a good way.

5. The writing – Maggie Stiefvater’s storytelling is genius. The imagery is lush and vibrant and will stick with you for a long time.

About Maggie
Maggie Stiefvater
All of Maggie Stiefvater’s life decisions have been based around her inability to be gainfully employed. Talking to yourself, staring into space, and coming to work in your pajamas are frowned upon when you’re a waitress, calligraphy instructor, or technical editor (all of which she’s tried), but are highly prized traits in novelists and artists. She’s made her living as one or the other since she was 22. She now lives an eccentric life in the middle of nowhere, Virginia with her charmingly straight-laced husband, two kids, two neurotic dogs, and a 1973 Camaro named Loki.

So there you have it…just a few reasons why we love this series. If you haven’t started this one yet, definitely consider it. Blue Lily, Lily Blue (Book 3) comes out in October…that leaves you enough time to finish the first two and dive right in! You won’t regret it!
