Erased Blog Tour Interview & Giveaway with Jennifer Rush

January 8, 2014 by Jaime Leave a Comment

ERASED
By: Jennifer Rush
Publication Date: January 7, 2014

SUMMARY
They thought they had escaped. They were wrong.

After fleeing the Branch with Sam, Cas, and Nick, Anna is trying to make sense of the memories resurfacing from her old life. At the same time, she’s learning how to survive in hiding, following Sam’s rules: Don’t draw attention to yourself. Always carry a weapon. Know your surroundings. Watch your back.

Then a figure from Anna’s childhood reappears. Is it a Branch setup, or could it be the reunion Anna has hoped for? Uncertain of where her loyalties lie, Anna must fight to learn the truth — before she is betrayed again. Ultimately, the answers hinge on one question: What was the real reason her memories were erased?

Jennifer Rush delivers a thrilling sequel to Altered in a novel packed with mysteries, lies, and surprises that are sure to keep readers guessing until the last age is turned.

ABOUT JENNIFER
Jennifer Rush lives in a little town on the shoreline of Lake Michigan with her husband and two children. She grew up wanting to be an Egyptologist, but realized she hated the desert and declared herself a writer instead. In her free time, she likes to read, Photoshop, and consume large amounts of caffeine.

Her debut YA, ALTERED, released January 2013 from Little, Brown. The sequel to Altered, ERASED, releases January 7, 2014.

Her debut middle-grade, BOT WARS, released March 2013 from Dial Books for Young Readers. Its sequel, THE META-RISE, releases July 10, 2014. The Bot Wars series is written under the pen name J. V. Kade.

We had the chance to ask Jenn a few questions about one of the characters in Altered / Erased and since we’re so intrigued by Nick I knew it had to be him! Check them out below!

What was Nick’s first memory of being in the lab and what was his first impression of Anna?

I must admit, I’ve never written the boys’ first memories of being in the lab, at least not in depth and detail, but I can imagine Nick would have woken enraged to realize he was virtually a prisoner, and worse yet, with no memories. I think for Nick, and the life he’s had, he’s used to having no control, but what little control he did have, he held dearly. And to find he now has none—even if he has no memory of his life before the lab—would set him sorely on edge.

His first impression of Anna was a conflicted one. Firstly, she symbolized the freedom that had been taken from him, seeing as how she was on the other side of the glass and could come and go as she pleased. But secondly, and subconsciously, she was a symbol of his failings, which is something readers will learn more of in Erased.

How does Nick feel about having to take orders from Anna?

This goes back to Nick’s need for control. Nick’s the kind of person who learned at a young age that he had to look out for himself first and foremost, because no one else would. Because of that, he’s learned to rely on only himself, and most importantly, to have few weaknesses, because people will always exploit them. Taking orders from Anna is both a taking of his control over himself, but also a weakness that he absolutely detests.

How does Nick feel about Trev’s actions? Do you think there will ever be forgiveness for him in Nick’s heart?

Nick holds grudges like no other. What Trev did was, in Nick’s eyes, irredeemable. But, I can say that Trev, being Trev, will find his way back into Nick’s good graces! That’s something that will be touched on in book three. And I can’t wait for everyone to read about Trev’s return!
