SHE'S DESTINED TO DESTROY THE WORLD...
"Cat" Catalia Fisa has been running from her destiny since she could crawl. But now, her newfound loved ones are caught between the shadow of Cat's tortured past and the threat of her world-shattering future. So what's a girl to do when she knows it's her fate to be the harbinger of doom? Everything in her power.

BUT NOT IF SHE CAN HELP IT
Griffin knows Cat is destined to change the world-for the better. As the realms are descending into all-out war, Cat and Griffin must embrace their fate together. Gods willing, they will emerge side-by-side in the heart of their future kingdom...or not at all.

Apparently I had been living under a rock when book 1 of this series came out. I came across some lovely book bloggers talking about how excited they were to get their hands on this one early and couldn’t wait to read and I was all… “what is this magic you are talking about?”

Turns out it was actually incredibly amazing. I immediately purchased book 1 and DEVOURED it!
Can we please get some more erotic fantasy romance pretty please??

If you haven’t read book 1 yet, TURN AROUND. Because spoilers are ahead! WAIT – better yet, please go get book 1 and read it, then come back here!

Cat has been running from her destiny from the very beginning. Breath of Fire picks up right after the end of book 1. Cat is waking from a deep healing sleep and Griffin has figured out just exactly who she is. She hasn’t exactly been keeping it totally secret from him, but she also wasn’t really straight forward with him about it… and he’s pissed.

Let me just get something out of the way right away. The beginning of this book pissed me off because Cat & Griffin have a pretty big fight and he says things and she takes his words literally. He then goes off his rocker when he can’t find her and thinks she has left him, and when he finds her, HE BLAMES HER for taking his words seriously and she says yes, I’m sorry, it’s my fault. (basically)

No. None of that worked for me. I was super pissed that this went down that way, and honestly it took a bit for me to get over it. I was worried it was going to set the tone for the rest of the story and I’m thankful that it did not, they actually resolve this pretty quickly which was nice.

The realms are heading into war, and Cat, Griffin and the crew are doing everything they can to keep their people safe. They world that Bouchet has created is so amazing, and the mythology is woven into this story in such seemless and interesting way! I loved all the action and I really enjoyed learning more about the characters. I’m kind of hoping we’ll get more than 3 books here, because I’d love to see each of the guys get their own HEA!

That said, this book has a bit of everything, Cat is as snarky as ever, Griffin is as alpha as ever, but there is also action, romance, steamy, steamy sexy stuff, drama, a bit of heartbreak and yes even some humor! See, something for everyone!

If you’re looking for something a little different than the usual romance, I can’t tell you enough how much you should give this series a try. I definitely wouldn’t complain if I had book 3 yesterday!

Thank you to the publisher for an early copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.

About Amanda Bouchet

Amanda Bouchet grew up in New England where she spent much of her time tromping around in the woods and making up grand adventures in her head. It was inevitable that one day she would start writing them down. Drawing on her Greek heritage for the setting and on her love of all things daring and romantic for the rest, her debut trilogy, The Kingmaker Chronicles, took form. She writes what she loves to read: epic exploits, steamy romance, and characters that make you laugh and cry.

A French master’s graduate and former English teacher, Amanda lives in Paris, France. She met her husband while studying abroad, and the family now includes two bilingual children who will soon be correcting her French.
