ALTERED

By: Gennifer Albin
Publication Date: October 29, 2013

Life. Possibility. Choice.
All taken from Adelice by the Guild—until she took them back.

But amid the splendid ruins of Earth, Adelice discovers how dangerous freedom can be. Hunted by soulless Remnants sent by Cormac Patton and the Guild, Adelice finds a world that’s far from deserted. Although allies are easy to find on Earth, knowing who to trust isn’t. Because everyone has secrets, especially those Adelice loves most. Secrets they would kill to protect. Secrets that will redefine each of them. Torn between two brothers and two worlds, Adelice must choose what to fight for.

In this thrilling sequel to Crewel, Adelice is about to learn how tangled up her past and future really are. Her parents ran to protect her, but nothing can save her from her destiny, and once she uncovers the truth, it will change everything.

10 Things You Didn’t Know About Gennifer Albin
I feel like I’m an open book, so when FicFare asked me to do this post, I immediately thought challenge accepted! I’m going to have to reach into the darkest, weirdest recesses of my mind, mostly occupied by bits of fluff and other oddities for this one.
As a child I was the karate kid, a ballerina, and a jedi.  Okay, not really, but that didn’t stop me from telling people I was all those things. In truth, I never took karate, dance, or trained with Master Yoda. I did teach myself a pretty sweet scissor kick though. My tendency toward embellishing the truth earned me the nickname ‘hot shot’ on the playground. I like to think I just had a fabulous imagination.
I distrust people dressed in mascot costumes. You know the ones who turn up to sporting events or who walk around theme parks. The costumes always have dead eyes. Probably because they’re made of plastic, but still.
I am terrified of down escalators. Ask my tour mates how long it takes me to get on one, especially with a suitcase. Those things are dangerous, yo.
I saved a group of YA authors from being trapped in an elevator. Apparently despite my fear of escalators, I can push open jammed elevator doors. No problem.
I sew a few projects before I start writing a new book. I taught myself how when my son was born and now it’s a great way to refill my creative well after finishing one project. I even sold things on etsy for a bit when my family was struggling to make ends meet.
My daughter is named after a character from Alias. I thought naming her after a secret agent/graduate student would set her up for success in life. Also I liked the name.
The first car I ever owned was a Pontiac Fiero that I named Neo. The Matrix was really important to me at the time. It died in a spectacular blaze of glory (literally) in front of my parents’ house.
I’ve never been outside the continental U.S. Although I have a four city European research tour scheduled for January.
My dream job is to be a librarian. You get to be around books and make bulletin boards. Does life get any better?
I hate coconut so much that I used to tell people I was allergic to it.

You guys… I love knowing all these things about Gennifer… I feel like she and I should go out to dinner and lie about what foods we’re allergic to… Tomatoes Gennifer, I always tell them I’m allergic to tomatoes.

ABOUT GENNIFER

I like coffee. A lot. Writing gives me time to go get a cup without my kids. I like books as much as I like coffee, but it is easier to read with children hanging on you than drink coffee due to the threat of third degree burns. That’s why coffee gets top billing in my intro: its unattainability.

I hold a Masters in English with a specialization in 18th century women’s studies. While this is a highly marketable area of expertise, I stay home with my kids, which means my 3 year-old son uses correct grammar and doesn’t burn down the house.

I have a ridiculously supportive husband who dreams of being included on a book jacket: “The author lives in Kansas with her husband, two children, and a Tuesday cat.”

BUT that’s not all – The awesome, amazing people over at Macmillan have offered up some books for giveaway!! We have a paperback of Crewel and a hardcover of Altered up for grabs for one lucky winner!  (US / CAN ONLY)
