Hey fellow book lovers…I have found something that I think you will love.
In the land of subscription boxes, I feel like this one was made just for me!Â
It’s called Uppercase Box – and I just received my very first delivery!Â
This is like other subscription services in that you decide on what package you want to receive and pay for it then on a monthly basis it’s sent out to you… except that this one offers a couple ways to customize! Â
Expert Pick – Means you’ll receive a book that they love
Personalized Recommendation – Means they will customize a book choice specifically for you!Â
I have to admit, I signed up for the expert pick, but the lovely Lisa over at UpperCase noticed that I already had this months choice and instead did a personalized recommendation book for me! And she did an amazing job!Â
So… I know everyone wants to know how much it is… The Expert Pick is $29 and the Personalized Recommendation is $35 (shipping included). Â And what do you get for that $29 or $35?
- 1 exciting new YA book
- 1 book accessory (funky items like bookmarks, posters, jewelry, totes, etc)
- A personal explanation of the choice + other similar titles
- Discount codes for popular book buying websites
- An online area to talk with other readers and find exclusive book content
I have to tell you all that I’m really happy with what I received this month! Â I was waiting to do a highlight of this just because I wanted to test it out before I told you all to go give it a try, and you can see the pictures of my items below!
I asked the lovely Lisa Parkin – owner of Uppercase Box, if I could ask her a few questions… just to share some information about her and about the service to those of you who are trying to decide if this is for you! Â I think once you read about her passion for what she’s doing you’ll want to get involved!Â
Why Uppercase Box? Â What made you decide to offer something like this?
I decided to start Uppercase because it was a natural extension of what I was doing already – recommending books to my friends and family. I’ve been a young adult book blogger since 2011, and I’ve read so many amazing books over the years that I end up talking about them all the time anyway (whether people wanted me to or not).
How do you pick your featured book each month? Â What about the fun bookish items?Â
How do you pick your featured book each month? Â What about the fun bookish items?Â
I pick books based on a few questions – 1. Is it one of the top books I’ve read this year? 2. Was it published fairly recently? 3. Is this a book most people may not think to pick themselves? I think those criteria are the most important factors that go into choosing a book because they’re all focused on picking the most interesting read for Uppercase subscribers. I have a not-so-secret passion for bookish accessories of all types, and I spend way too much time on Etsy. For that reason, picking fun bookish accessories has been fairly easy. And so, so much fun. I’m buying extras of things so I can keep them for myself too!
I realize this is newer, but have publishers or authors offered to help with swag etc?Â
One of the key elements of Uppercase is the exclusive author content – whether it’s an author-created video or signed swag, etc. For that reason, I’ve already been working very closely with publishers to facilitate getting that content for subscribers. In August’s box, we were able to secure signed copies of posters and bookmarks from Mary E. Person thanks to the amazing folks at Macmillan (shout out to the fabulous Ksenia!). Going forward, I’ll continue to reach out to publishers to make sure members are getting something special, meant just for them.
So far have you seen a lot of interest and participation?Â
I’ve been very surprised how organic word-of-mouth has had the biggest impact on Uppercase’s growth. There has been steady interest in the box – mainly because there’s nothing else like it out there. I owe a ton of thanks to the awesome people like you who have been posting about Uppercase and spreading the word. Thanks, Jaime!
Head on over to Uppercase Box today and sign up! If you’re a book lover like I am, then I think this is one subscription box that you’ll really enjoy!! Â You can also follow Uppercase Box on Twitter!Â
