My rating: 5 of 5 stars
I can’t lie… I was worried. I wasn’t sure what I would do without Maddie, Tara, Chloe, Jax, Ford and Sawyer. I almost convinced myself not to read because it wouldn’t be the same without them.
I was wrong. It was just as good.. if not better. I loved the first three books, and I wanted to love these next in the series the same, if not more.
I might love them more.
In book four, we’re introduced to our next three lovely ladies by way of a storm. Amy, Mallory and Grace are in the diner when it hits and they make the most of it with a chocolate cake. Enter Ty, or Mysterious Cute Guy. He’s only passing through town, but all the residents are intrigued. After a freak accident he and Mallory meet and suddenly she has a date for a fundraiser she’s setting up. The fireworks start immediately.
Straight and narrow Mallory has always followed the rules and for once she’s breaking them… she wants one night with Mr. Wrong and she gets it, but is one night going to be enough… for either of them? I didn’t think so either. These two are combustible and I when I turned that last page I wanted more!
I think that I love these books because while a town with all these hot guys in it is a bit fantastical, they could be real people… the situations are believable, the emotions are believable and there never seems to be angst just for angst sake. I swear I get to that part of the book where you expect shit to hit the fan, and it does, but usually it’s only a little splatter… (sorry for that picture friends) These are adult people, in adult relationships, acting like adults.
The books themselves have a bit of predictability, the hero/heroine fools themselves into thinking this isn’t anything serious, neither thinks they want to commit, but then they do. BUT even typing that out makes me all gooey inside, because the way Shalvis writes it, I’m never bored. I love the characters, the heroins don’t bug the crap out of me (which is rare in contemporary romance) and I adore the men, even if they are being boneheaded. LOL
run to read these books – I swear you’re going to thank me!
