When New York matchmaker Addison St. Claire is tasked with matching her best friend’s new brother-in-law, she almost refuses. But the sexy southern CEO turns out to be a challenge she can’t resist, because if anyone needs to meet his soul mate, it’s this man. And if matching him with someone else removes the temptation of being near him? Even better.
The last thing Caine McNeill needs is a matchmaker—especially a gorgeous redhead who spouts nonsense about soul mates, critiques what he drives and how he dresses, buys him a dog, and pesters him about a million little things he couldn’t care less about. It’s a crying shame he has to keep his hands off because chemistry like what’s flaring between them ought to be explored. Thoroughly.
And so the battle begins. Addison is determined to stick to her plan of setting him up on dates with other women, and Caine is equally determined to ignore these women and seduce her.
ABOUT KATEE
Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.
Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.
Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?
She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
Jaime’s Thoughts
Meeting His Match by Katee Robert
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
I am a fan of Katee Robert and when I saw this title I knew I had to grab it! If you’ve read Katee’s contribution to the Wedding Dare Series, then you might recognize the names of our main characters in Meeting His Match.
First we have Addison St. Clair. She’s Regan’s friend, and she’s a matchmaker. She’s grown up believing in sole mates and that everyone only gets one perfect match in their life… and she had hers. So she gets that thrill of relationship firsts vicariously through her clients, and she’s successful!
Regan convinces Addison that she is needed to save her husband Brock’s older brother from a life filled with only work. So she is off to Tennessee.
Caine McNeil has spent his entire life trying to live up to the expectations that his father has laid out for him. We learned a bit about those in Seducing the Bridesmaid, but we find out all the dirty details in Meeting His Match. Caine is unhappy though, he’s not sure he’s doing what he’s loved, but his problem is that he isn’t sure what else he likes to do. He spends all his time at his office and with no one to go home to that’s easy to do and it’s possible he’s spent more nights on his office couch than in his own bed.
When Addison storms into his office demanding he start figuring out what he wants out of his life he’s prepared to send her away. But he can’t deny the chemistry that blooms between them and Roberts does an amazing job building the tension between these two.
And Caine… I don’t know what it is about this man, because I never thought I’d swoon over a well-placed “darlin” but he sure worked for me. From his initial stubbornness to his realizations about his feelings and coming to terms with them, as well as his own self-discovery, I really found myself falling for him right along with Addison.
No matter how much she denied it. And even though her feelings about sole mates frustrated me a bit, I was happy to see her make a few realizations of her own.
Robert has created a light, fun story with plenty of heat and swoon. If you’re looking for a quick, sexy read, make sure you grab this one as soon as it arrives.
Thank you to Entangled for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest thoughts.
