Meet Janelle Tenner From Unraveling & Unbreakable

Janelle Tenner has to be one of my favorite YA Characters so I’m super excited to be able to introduce you guys to her! She’s tough, strong and totally kick-ass. She’s just the perfect bit of snarky and comes across as a completely real teenager to me.

So I’ll quit gushing about her and introduce you to her!

Janelle

Name: Janelle Tenner

Age: 17

Distinguishing features: dark brown hair, brown eyes, olive skin.

Worked as: a lifeguard on Torrey Pines beach, San Diego until the world changed. Now she’s helping as an assistant for the FBI.

School: Janelle was a junior in high school in Unraveling. Now, in Unbreakable, she’s gotten her GED in order to work with the FBI.

Parents: her mom is bipolar and currently listed as missing and presumed dead, and her dad was the head of the counter intelligence unit for the FBI in San Diego before he was killed investigating a case in Unraveling.

Family: she tries to protect her younger brother, Jared, from her mom’s outbursts and extreme behavior; they both got on well with their dad, and have a mutual love of The X-Files – they can geek out on quoting the taglines till the cows come home; now she and Jared live with Struz in an apartment on the military base in Miramar. Struz, her dad’s former partner, has assumed a leadership role within the FBI

Things Janelle knows at the start of Unbreakable: there are multiple universes out there, and an entire agency that polices them. The instability in her own universe has caused massive damage to her world—catastrophic earth quakes that have killed hundreds of thousands of people worldwide. Now, four months after Ben and Elijah went back to their home universe, Janelle is working to rebuild her San Diego community, but people are disappearing, being abducted without a trace.
