EARTHQUAKE
Earthbound #2
Author: Aprilynne Pike
Publisher: Razorbill
Release Date: July 8th 2014
SYNOPSIS
Tavia Michaels has discovered that she’s an Earthbound—a fallen goddess with the power to remake the Earth—and that a rival faction of Earthbounds, the Reduciata, has created a virus that is literally wiping swaths of the planet out of existence.
Tavia is captured and imprisoned before she can act on this information, along with her eternal lover, Logan. Huddled in a claustrophobic cell, they lose track of the days, their attempts to escape proving as ephemeral as Tavia’s newly gestating powers. But then Tavia and Logan are mysteriously rescued. . . .
They’re brought to the underground headquarters of the Curatoria, another group of Earthbounds that Tavia doesn’t fully trust. There, she’s told that she can save the Earth before it disappears. She agrees.
Tavia quickly realizes that she isn’t like other Earthbound, and as her abilities continue to awaken, they begin to threaten her centuries-long relationship with Logan. When Benson—Tavia’s former best friend and romantic interest—appears at Curatoria headquarters, Tavia will again have to make a choice about who to be with even as she tries to stop the virus that is destroying the world and uncover the truth about the two Earthbound organizations that have her tangled up in their webs.

**A Day In The Life of Aprilynne Pike**
My day generally begins at six with my three year old climbing into bed with me. *sigh* She’s an early riser. Luckily, after a few minutes she will generally go back to her room with an iPad and play for an hour while I go back to sleep. Then most days I actually get up at seven and go for a 6mi run. I love to run! I am also a big Zombies, Run! fan (https://www.zombiesrungame.com/) so 3-4 days a week you can find me out running from zombie hoards. I find it rather fitting.
A few months ago I would then proceed to get my kids fed and settled and then go into my office and work for a few hours, but well … the three year old again. She knows I’m behind that locked door and has decided that it’s somehow worth her time to lay outside my door and shriek for four hours straight. Not conducive to creativity. For some strange reason, she does much better if I’m just not there at all.
So for the first time in my entire writing career, (Coming up on seven years!!!) I now “go to work.” (Luckily my husband is off-work for the summer and is a great dad! When school starts up we’ll be juggling again.:D) My city has an Adult Center that I’m now a member of, where I go every weekday morning from about ten to two, and sit and type in the small library there, and get funny looks from all of the senior citizens who regularly attend. One gentleman in particular comes in almost every day, looks at me, and says, “On that computer again, eh?” (I wonder what they’d think if they knew I was writing stories about cursed gods, murderer-fighting Oracles, and futuristic drug-dealers. They might revoke my membership!;))
After I’ve gotten the day’s work done, I come home, and it’s Mom Hat time. My three oldest play piano and, even in the summer, daily practice is a rule in the Pike house! (I’m the Piano Nazi.) So piano, supervising chores, often some swimming in the afternoons, and throw in Cub scouts, Activity Day Girls, piano lessons, and occasional playdates and we are a busy crew! Then I love to cook, so making dinner is relaxing to me, plus I generally listen to a book while I’m cooking.
Then the little one goes to bed and we have read-aloud time. We’re re-reading Harry Potter as a family, and that has been super fun! One Fridays we often have a movie night (and if we’ve finished a book that week it will be the corresponding Harry Potter movie!) but mostly the kids pick a computer, and they get some free time. I spend the evenings with my awesome husband, and sometimes on work, especially if I have a deadline!
And laundry. But I get to listen to a book while I do that too.:D
