Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome and wonderful people over at The Broke and The Bookish
So this weeks topic we didn’t quite get 10 on our list again… But when we think unique we are expecting completely different and not expected – here’s our list~!Â
S by J.J. Abrams and Doug Dorst is something completely unique. Â It is a book within a book and when you open it up there are all these items tied to the story within the book…I seriously can’t wait to dive into this one.Â
I loved this book. Â One of the things that makes it unique is the fact that it tells the story of Hamlet from the point of view of Ophelia. Â We all know what happens in that story but to experience everything from her perspective made it a different story.
We chose Eleanor & Park by Rainbow Rowell because Eleanor is definitely not your typical YA character. Â She is awkward and super unpopular but she makes it work and totally won us over.
The Kiss of Deception has a unique approach to characters in that as a reader, you don’t really know who the heck anyone is until you are more than half way through. Â See…Mary Pearson introduces you to the main character, Lia, and then proceeds to introduce two guys simultaneously. One of them is the assassin sent to kill Lia and the other is the prince Lia was supposed to marry but the kicker here is that you have no idea who is who. Every time I would get a new chapter from their perspectives I would second guess myself. Â Trust me when I say you need to read this book.
The reason we think this book is unique is that it’s told from the POV of four different characters… none of them being Alice. Â *side note* you do get one chapter from the title character at the very end, but it’s unique to hear a story about someone from everyone but that one person. Â Made for a unique reading experience.Â
This story was unique for us in that it’s told in a unique way. Â The MC of our story tells it via letters to someone. You never find out who he is talking to in the letters but it definitely makes for a unique reading experience!Â
It’s Pride and Prejudice….with zombies. That is all. Definitely unique and I enjoyed it.
Let us know in the comments some of the unique books that you’ve read!Â
