I was tagged by the lovely and amazing Sara at Forever 17 Reviews! If you’re not following her yet, get on that! She’s the best! The TBR Tag originated from Dana Square and A Perfection Called Books who wanted to know all about the craziness that is the TBR list for book bloggers.Â
I know I’m not alone when I say that my TBR list is an ugly, ugly place. Â Not the books mind you, just the amount of books that are there. Â IF you were to take a look at my goodreads TBR you would see something like 2,623 books over there… and that’s probably only accurate for today!
While goodreads is a wonderful way to organize that list, my piles around the house are a bit ridiculous.
How do you keep track of your TBR pile?
I have to admit that I keep track in many different ways. Â In goodreads I have two main shelves that I work off of. Â Because I get a ton of books from publishers in both print and ebook, it’s important that I know what’s coming next. Â BUT I also want to read some of the books that I purchase for myself throughout the year too. Â So I have an “On Deck” and an “On Deck but Not Time Sensitive” shelf that I use to keep track of what I might need/want to pick up next electronically.
(these numbers are not entirely accurate of course)
BUT
I also have a co-blogger and it’s important for us to know who’s reading what and when – Erin and I keep a spreadsheet of all our books in g-docs so that we can both see where we are at with books that we have an obligation to read/review.
It’s sad isn’t it… 🙂
Is your TBR mostly print or e-books
My TBR is a good mix of both. Â I try not to over request things on Netgalley and Edelweiss because I do like to keep my percentage up to the recommended 80% feedback given (gah I’m so close at 75.5%) and I don’t like the pressure of having all those e-books on hand… on the other hand, if you saw how many print books I have that need to be read you would probably laugh.Â
I tend to end up with piles all over the place that look like this…Â
But I do have two bookshelves that are filled with books that I haven’t yet read… the one in the middle behind all the stacks on the left are all books I haven’t read and the below shelf has all the books I haven’t read yet.
I should not be allowed to buy anymore books… ever.
How do you determine which book to read next?
It really just depends.  If I’m on a roll and need to bust out a lot of reviews, I will go to my On Deck list and pick something.  If I don’t have as many deadlines to make and I have some blog posts in the queue I might pick up something on my list that I purchased that I just want to read for myself!
A book that has been on your TBR list the longest.
I”ll give you three…
A book you’ve recently added to your TBR
I’m horribly excited to read all three of these. You can always check my goodread shelf to see what else is out there… obviously there is a lot!Â
A Book on your TBR strictly because of its beautiful cover
A book on your TBR that you never planned on reading
I might get yelled at about this, but I have the entire Outlander series on my TBR list, but to be perfectly honest, it’s just not my thing. Â I most likely will never read the books, especially after being underwhelmed by the tv series.
An unpublished book in your TBR that you’re excited about
hahahahahahah A BOOK – are you kidding! Â Here are 9 – that’s pretty good for me you know!Â
A book that everyone’s read but you
I think I have to say those Beautiful Creature books – I just don’t have any urge to get to them. I’ve tried, but I just couldn’t.Â
A book on your TBR that everyone recommends to you
All the Cassandra Clare books – no thank you.
A book on your TBR that you’re DYING to read
The number of books on my Goodreads TBR shelf
So yeah… It’s well over 2,600 right now. Â I’m disgusted with myself and now I feel like I need to clean off the shelves and get rid of the books I just know I’m no longer interested in!Â
TAG! YOU’RE IT! (If you want to)
