By now you know that when the four of us are together, in person or via the magic of the internet, the conversations almost always come back to books. We love them. We love the people who write them, the people who publish them, and the people who read them. In fact, we have so many feelings about books that we wanted to find a way to share our conversations with you! Welcome to a new week of Spotlight Sunday, hosted by Fiction Fare (Erin & Jaime) and Swoony Boys Podcast (Kassiah & Meg), where we dish about ALL things bookish. Each week we’ll post a topic, we’ll start the conversation by telling you some of our thoughts, and then it will be your turn to sound off in the comment section.

Getting out from behind the computer. How important is it to attend events and/or actually go out and meet people (authors, other bloggers/book enthusiasts)?
Meg: So important. Can I leave it at that? Okay, but seriously. Going out to events and meeting other bloggers, authors, and book lovers in general is one of my favorite parts of being involved in the book world. I love to hear what everyone is reading, I love meeting the authors who write the words that I read, and most of all I love being surrounded by rooms full of people who love written words as much as I do. (Of course, the networking part of it isn’t too bad either. hahaha)
Jaime: I think it’s horribly important, and while it’s easier to do if you live in certain areas it’s definitely important to make every effort. Not only does going out and meeting other bloggers open up more opportunities to expand and get your blog out there, but there is such an amazing network of people out there that I have found to be so great to get to know. As far as meeting authors it’s such an incredible opportunity to put a face with a name and personality. It’s so gratifying to have been able to connect on that level with them and form more than a superficial connection with them. I say, if you have the opportunity to get out there and meet bloggers, readers and authors do it!Â
Erin: I think it is important too. It makes things more personal and you can build more than just virtual relationships with authors and bloggers.Â
Kassiah: Ditto. I know! I always say that! Though I love all of my virtual relationships, there’s nothing like actually squeezing people and getting to know them. Kind of like the difference between real books and e-books. LOL I have to admit that I’m a hermit, though, and have to make myself go do things. But then, I get to see you (and once, this guy), and it’s all worth it:
Jaime: I want to meet Pepe LOL – but in all honesty Erin and I have been pretty lucky in the way of meeting authors and as it turns out there are a lot more bloggers in WI than I ever thought, and Chicago is super close too, so we’ve gotten to meet some bloggers from that area as well!Â
Now that you’ve read some of our thoughts, let us know what you’re thinking in the comments below! We’ll be back next week with a brand new topic and lots more to talk about.
