Review: Unbreakable (Unraveling #2) + Pre-order info!

April 5, 2013 by Jaime Leave a Comment

Unbreakable (Unraveling, #2)Unbreakable by Elizabeth Norris
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unbreakable begins shortly after the end of Unraveling. If you haven’t read that… then turn away, because I can guarantee there are about to be some spoilers.

The world that Janelle used to know no longer exists.

Ben is gone, friends have died, and her city is in pieces. She’s working to make life bearable again when people start disappearing and suddenly someone she loves is gone with no explanation. Interverse agent Taylor Barclay shows up and convinces Janelle that he needs her help because the person that’s missing has become part of a human trafficking ring… and the boy who she fell in love with is stuck in the middle of it all.

Taylor and Janelle try to piece together the truth but they only have five days and she worries that maybe she didn’t know Ben as well as she thought.

I absolutely loved the plot that Norris built this part of the story around. The idea of a kidnapping ring that spans all the different universes was intriguing and Norris did a wonderful job with the story.

The pacing of the story was done really well – I didn’t feel any lag in the story, and to be honest, it was pretty much action, action, action all the way through which kept me turning pages as fast as I could.

I adore these characters, and I’m sad to find out that this is the last we’ll see of them, but I get it. (except for the novella from Ben’s POV Squeeeeeeeee) Janelle is a kick-ass heroine and I love those. Was she scared… hell yes, but she didn’t let that deter her from what needed to be done. Ben… *sigh* Ben. A bit of a spoiler here, but he’s not in the first half of this book. Which made me sad, but also allowed for us to get some much needed time with some other characters like Elijah and Taylor.

I absolutely ended up loving Taylor. Which is saying a lot because I disliked him so much in the first, and Elijah… he was the perfect compliment to Janelle here and the friendship that grows between them was wonderful.

So… when Ben finally does make his appearance. *FLAILS*

I’m not really sure I should say anything else. I don’t want to spoil anything that happens. Just go read Unraveling now, so you can fall in love with Norris’s characters like I have.

If you’re looking for something unique and different as far as plots go, then the Unraveling series might be perfect for you. It’s got the perfect amount of action, twists and turns that you won’t be expecting and even some romance for those of us who need some of that too.

Make sure you pick this one up when it comes out in April!

Thank you to my friend Stacee  and Balzer & Bray for the advance copy!!

Guess what.. you can head over to Books of Wonder right now, and pre-order a signed copy of  Unbreakable now that will include swag! Just make sure you place your order before April 23rd!! (I got mine!!)
