From #1 New York Times bestselling author Colleen Hoover, a passionate tale of friendship, betrayal, and romance—and the enchanting music that inspires one young woman to put her life back together.

At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

From the author of the New York Times bestsellers Slammed, Point of Retreat, Hopeless, This Girl, and Losing Hope, Maybe Someday is destined to become another bestseller and long-lasting fan favorite.

About Colleen
Colleen Hoover
I love music. LOVE music. Namely The Avett Brothers, Lumineers, Pink, Eminem. I have eclectic taste? If you have any recommendations, send them my way!

I’m addicted to diet pepsi and could tell you in a taste-test which restaurant it came from. It’s a serious addiction, I tell you.

I get stoked whenever I get a message from goodreads saying I have a new friend request…so request me, dangit!

If you want to know when I have new books out or just want to be inundated by random, pointless blog posts, follow me at www.colleenhoover.com  Avoid my Twitter at all cost. It’s propaganda.

So, Colleen worked closely with Griffin Peterson to write lyrics based on the scenes in the book and create original songs. The lyrics tie in with the characters lives/feelings/relationships and I, for one, am excited to hear them.  Below is a video of Griffin singing the first single – check it out and if you like it (why wouldn’t you?) go ahead and head over to iTunes or Amazon to buy it.

Now, Colleen and Griffin were kind enough to offer to do an interview for us so check out what they told us….about books, music and a bunch of other stuff!  Make sure you click the links above to follow, like, favorite and whatever else you can do and don’t forget you can buy Griffin’s single on Amazon and iTunes and pre-order Maybe Someday on Amazon.
If you could introduce one of your characters to another character from another book, who would it be and why?
I would write myself into a book and then introduce my character of myself to August Waters from The Fault in our Stars by John Green. Because he is perfect.

Tell us about your writing process for Maybe Someday and how different it was to work with someone to create a major piece of this book.
My writing process was the same as any other book. No outline, I just write. The story ended up in a totally different place than I expected it to, as usual. The main difference while working with Griffin was getting to see how his lyrics and music just brought the story to life. It’s incredible how perfectly the songs match the story.

Do you have any writing quirks?  Both for writing books and writing music.
Colleen: I need it to be absolutely silent. If you saw my Instagram video the other day, you know I can’t even stand a ticking clock while I write. I usually have to leave the house to write so I can focus.

Griffin: I need to be locked in a room alone so I feel like no one can hear me (even though they usually can). It’s a strange thing to sing a melody that’s never existed before. I’m unsure at first but then work it out until I like how it sounds over the chord progressions.

What is the one thing readers would be surprised to learn about you?
Colleen: I’m a very unemotional person. I rarely cry, and I tend to be fairly easygoing emotionally. Readers are usually surprised to learn this about me because I write books that are so full of emotion and make a lot of people cry.

Griffin: I hate shorts. No matter how hot it is outside, you will not catch me in shorts.

Music has played a big role in a number of your books Colleen.  What musicians influence you?
The Avett Brothers and The Airborne Toxic Event have definitely been major sources of inspiration for me.

What musicians influence you Griffin?
I’d have to say stuff I grew up on: Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughn, mostly classic rock and blues. But more currently, stuff like Ben Rector, One Republic, and John Mayer.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers and/or musicians?
Colleen: My answer to this question never changes. As The Avett Brothers say, “decide what to be and go be it”. This lyric is what inspired me to finally write Slammed. You can dream all you want, but you will never achieve your goals if you don’t just go be it.

Griffin: Colleen is absolutely right. I still consider myself to be an aspiring musician. I work really hard and dedicate as much time as possible to my music, and that’s the only advice I can give to anyone else.

Do you have a dream cast for this book?
Colleen: I really don’t. I don’t ever picture characters in my head while I’m writing them, so there aren’t ever any actors or actresses that really look like a character in my mind.

Speed Round:
Coffee or Tea
