Ten Characters Everyone Loves But I Just Don’t Get

March 8, 2016 by Jaime 6 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by the awesome and wonderful people over at The Broke and The Bookish

I was so excited to do this post because I sometimes enjoy being the black sheep … that said, these are the books that it seems like so many people loved the characters but I just couldn’t get on board.

Mara Dyer & Noah Shaw from The Mara Dyer Series – I’m counting this one as two characters…   No. Nope. No way.  I was just rereading my review to Erin and laughed so hard at my initial thoughts of these characters.  You know when you actually state in your review that you want to punch the character in the face it’s not going to be good.    All the reasons I disliked them can be found HERE

Eva and Gideon from Bared To You – these two are seriously so stupid.  I honestly can’t even … Neither wants a relationship.. But for each other they will..it was a cycle of he bends his norms and desires to go out with her, he fucks up in some way and she runs off. Rinse repeat. I mean… Over and over.  Find my review HERE

Those characters  from Real by Katy Evans … NO JUST NO –  I can’t even believe that this is a book and that it has 76k ratings and a 4+ star average.  You NEED to read my full review to see why I hated these two and this book in general.  You can find it HERE

Kricket from Darken the Stars by Amy Bartol – Seriously I am not onboard.  I can’t support a character who completely changes from one book to the next with absolutely no explanation.  Add to this the fact that she ultimately decides she needs to be with the guy who basically was going to make her be with him…no matter what…and I’m out.

Travis Maddox – Beautiful Disaster – I just can’t with this guy.  All I will say is I don’t get the love for this character and I don’t have any examples because I couldn’t even make myself write a review for this book BUT I do know I have a pretty visceral reaction whenever I see his name on a boyfriend list.

Peeta – The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.  I am POSITIVE this one will get me some hate mail but I will always be a Gale supporter.  I don’t get the love for Peeta and it didn’t help that the person cast in the role was probably shorter than my mom (she’s 5’2″).

There you have it… the characters that many people loved, but we hated.  Do you agree? Disagree? Who’s your most disliked character? Let us know in the comments!
