Flashback Friday: Anna and the French Kiss

June 5, 2015 by Erin 3 Comments

Anna and the French Kiss made me love Stephanie Perkins’ stories and she writes a wonderful story that not only has these great characters but they have friends and lives outside of the romance that is beginning to bloom.  Also, this story takes place at a boarding school in Paris and I generally love stories that take place within a school…I don’t know why yet, but I do.  If you haven’t read this one yet, get moving!

Anna is less than thrilled to be shipped off to boarding school in Paris, leaving a fledgling romance behind – until she meets Etienne St. Clair. Smart, charming, beautiful, Etienne has it all...including a girlfriend. But in the City of Light, wishes have a way of coming true. Will a year of romantic near-misses end with a longed-for French kiss? "Magical...really captures the feeling of being in love" - Cassandra Clare, author of The Mortal Instruments series "A delightful love story with real friendships, and the writing is great." - Rainbow Rowell "I fell in love with it from the very first chapter... Your fictional crush can move out of the way for Etienne St. Clair. Yet another beautifully crafted, realistic character that Perkins has created, you can't help but fall in love with him." - Growing Wings "Anna and the French Kiss was one of the best YA books that I have read ever. I absolutely bloody loved it." - Lisa Talks About... "Stephanie Perkins creates the perfect novel of a beautiful friendship, progressing into a slow burning romance... This novel is a mix of romance, friendships, family dramas, and an English accent... I can't wait to read Lola and the Boy Next Door." - Never Judge A Book By Its Cover "Who can resist a (possible) romance/coming of age story set in Paris? Anna is someone you can relate to." - Reading Teenage Fiction "It’s the perfect Young Adult book in my eyes. It’s highly addictive, with unbelievably good characters, a beautiful setting and a story which I could happily read over and over again" - Emma Lou Book BlogNPR's Year's Best Teen Reads, 2010. NPR's 100 Best-Ever Teen Novels, Number 53. Cybils Award Finalist for Young Adult Fiction, 2011. YALSA's Best Fiction for Young Adults. 2012 list YALSA's Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults: Forbidden Romance, 2012. TAYSHAS Reading List, 2012. About Stephanie Perkins

Hi, there! I'm Steph, and I wrote ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS, LOLA AND THE BOY NEXT DOOR, and ISLA AND THE HAPPILY EVER AFTER. I also edited (and contributed a short story to) a romantic holiday anthology called MY TRUE LOVE GAVE TO ME. A companion anthology, SUMMER DAYS & SUMMER NIGHTS, will be released in 2016. My next YA novel will be horror—a teen slasher published by Dutton.
