Today is all about the best books I read in 2012!  I’m ending the year by featuring the top 10 of 2012 with the lovely ladies at Fiktshun, A Life Bound By Books, Confessions of a Bookaholic, Two Chicks on Books, and Magical Urban Fantasy Reads.  I’ll be listing my Top 10 Favorites all week long.
BEST BOOKS I’VE READ IN 2012
Doesn’t have to be released in 2012, only read in 2012
I’m stealing my list from my Top Ten Tuesday list – though there are going to be a few adjustments!
(In No Particular Order)
On the Island  – This book had me feeling everything. I loved the uniqueness of the plot and the aftermath of everything… Plus T.J. and Anna were wonderful characters!Â
“I’ve been in love with you for months. I’m telling you now because I think you love me too, Anna. You just don’t think you’re supposed to. You’ll tell me when you’re ready. I can’t wait.” I pulled her mouth down to mine and kissed her when it ended, I smiled and said, “Happy birthday.”

“My eyes fell to his forearms, flexing as he sliced the bag open. Tattooed designs wrapped around his wrists, contiguous symbols and script running up both arms and disappearing into the sleeves of the grey knit shirt…”

“I lie on top of him, skin to skin. He’s tall,I’m not, but when we lie like this, we fit together. All the curves of my body relax into the strength of his.”
or thisÂ
“Um. So… are we going to study?”
Jase slides his thumbs behind my ears, rubbing the hollow at their base. He’s only inches from my face, still looking into my eyes. “You bet. I’m studying you.”Â

Through the Ever Night – This book doesn’t come out until January, so if you haven’t read book 1 this gives you plenty of time to get that done. I loved book 2 so much more than book 1  maybe it was because we got more of Roar and a lot more of Perry, I don’t know but probably in my top 5 read in 2012.  Perry gave me all the swoons and Rossi gave me an incredible story … I adore them both for it.
His eyes were heavy with desire, but she saw something else. A gleam that made her suspicious.
“what?” she asked.
His hands slid to her hips. “You’re incredible.”
“That’s not what you were thinking.”
“Was so. I always think that.” He leaned in twisting a strand of her hair around his finger as he kissed her bottom lip. “But I was also wondering what you were doing around Butter today.”
Aria laughed. That was attractive. She smelled like horse. “Do you ever miss anything?”
Perry smiled. “You, all the time.”Â

The Fault in Our Stars – I’m not sure any list would be complete without this book on it. Augustus and Hazel Grace made me smile, laugh, frown and cry like a baby and I suppose I should thank John Green for that.  Completely worth all the heartache – and I’m going to read it again… very soon.

Shadow and Bone – I absolutely adored this first in a series book from Leigh Bardugo.  She amazingly made me fall for both the good guy and the bad guy in this book and gives readers a kickass heroine in the form of Alina who isn’t everything she appears in the beginning. I’m so frickin excited to read book 2 I can’t wait.  Plus… I’m secretly casting the movie that is in the works. LOL
“I missed you every hour. And you know what the worst part was? It caught me completely by surprise. I’d catch myself just walking around to find you, not for any reason , just out of habit, because I’d seen something that I wanted to tell you about or because I wanted to hear your voice. And then I’d realize that you weren’t there anymore, and every time, every single time, it was like having the wind knocked out of me. I’ve risked my life for you. I’ve walked half the length of Ravka for you, and I’d do it again and again and again just to be with you, just to starve with you and freeze with you and hear you complain about hard cheese every day. So don’t tell me why we don’t belong together,” he said fiercely.

Deity – I adore anything Jennifer Armentrout writes, and she writes a lot guys so if you’re not reading something by her, get on that!  But – Deity was probably my very favorite of everything she published this year.  This book had a bit of everything and while I love the Covenant Series, this had everything I was hoping it would.  Alex kicks ass, Seth shows his true colors, and Aiden…*sigh* GAH! This series is definitely worth your time to check out!
Aiden shifted slightly and his thumb caressed the curve of my cheek. “I’m afraid of something.”
“What?” I whispered.
He drew in a deep, shuddering breath. “I’m afraid of never being allowed to feel what I do.”Â

The Sea of Tranquility –  This book… From the very first page I knew I’d be hooked and Millay did not disappoint.  From Nastya to Josh ‘fucking’ Bennett to Drew, the characters  had me turning pages desperate to find out more.  If you haven’t yet read this book, I highly recommend it. Â
Then he shifts just slightly and I’m not kissing him anymore. He’s kissing me. And when he does, part of me is lost. But it’s the part that’s twisted and mangled and wrong, and for just that moment, with his hands in my hair and his lips on my mouth, I can pretend that it never existed.Â
If I Lie – I loved this book… it wasn’t all happiness and rainbows, but it was an incredible read, full of emotion.  Completely captivated me from the get go.  The relationships between the characters were so well developed and the story itself was unique and wonderfully told.  Definitely a must read if you haven’t!
The Immortal Rules  – I Love Julie Kagawa… there I said it.  I devoured the Iron Fey series and when I found out that she had a vampire series coming I patiently (ha) waited for it.  Totally worth the wait. The world that Kagawa has created is so different and intriguing – I am dying for book 2 – and the cover reveal the other day was just a reminder of that!  Definitely check this series out!
I just finished this book in the last two weeks and I knew as soon as I finished it that I needed to put it on my top of the year list, except that I had already created and posted that list… so here is my amended version and I can’t get rid of anyone else so I’m giving this one an honorable mention! If you’re looking for an incredible paranormal series to start this is as good as it gets!Â
