BEA – The Countdown Has Begun

May 7, 2014 by Jaime Leave a Comment

I know I’m not fooling any of you with that title… we here at Fic Fare have been counting down the days since we got home last year! (we leave in 20 days!!)  Not only does it mean a real life vacation, but it means we get to see our blog besties Kass & Meg from SwoonyBoys Podcast! (OMG how has it been a year since I’ve seen your faces??)

A lot of blogs will providing you with tips and ideas and all kinds of useful things… and we’ll try to link you guys up if we see anything that you may not have previously seen, but I think the best way to help is to answer questions.  SO … that said, if you have any questions about BEA in general, the events, the signings, the set-up of the convention center, ANYTHING… please feel free to ask in the comments.

Here are a few of the tips that I think will be most helpful:

1.  Wear comfortable shoes and clothes.  I say this because I love you and you will be walking and standing and moving practically non-stop for the entire day.

2.  Be organized! Know your absolute must-haves.  A lot of the time you aren’t going to have the opportunity to see/meet every single person that you want to, so make yourself a schedule and have second and third choices to go see in case something changes with your first one.  (PS this happened to us last year, we really wanted to meet Rick Yancy, but a change in his schedule meant a change in ours! It happens!)

3.  Bring snacks and water.  You can always buy things there, but they are expensive and if you have things in your bags, you don’t have to leave a line!

4. Make friends!! I can’t tell you how fun it is to meet and chat with people who love books as much as you do and BEA is the perfect place – you’re in line with BOOK LOVERS!

If you’re looking for an amazing spreadsheet of BEA things – Jenna from Jenna Does Books has created one… go take a look and then find her at BEA and kiss her because it’s amazing.

If you want to see what we were up to last year – because that will give you an idea about what we’ll be up to this year… Check out these posts:

We also did a feature last year about the things we’re excited for … We’ll be doing that again this year, but these are the things we talked about!

Watch here over the next few weeks to see what we’ll be featuring and if you’re going to be at BEA let us know in the comments!! We would love to get the opportunity to meet up with you somewhere!

If you have any “gotta know” BEA questions leave those in the comments too! I’ll answer anything as best as I can!
